“No One Looks At It…” Baby Killers

December 17, 2007

From LifeSiteNews.com:

For what is probably the first time in history, a television network in Spain has shown an abortion on national television.

The video, shot during a hidden-camera exposé on Spain’s abortion industry, shows a nurse injecting deadly poison into the fetus through the vagina of a pregnant woman, who then expels her dead child, about five months old.  The doctor immediately covers the body.

“The baby is born dead.  His cradle: a trash can,” says the commentator in voice-over on the tape.  An abortion of the baby of  a second woman is also shown.

After showing the second abortion, the commentator remarks. “As soon as the baby is born, the doctor must cover it up.  No one looks at it.  No one examines it.”

Later, the undercover reporter examines one of the dead children. “Hands, feet, a face. The cadaver of a human being,” the commentator notes.  The doctor, a woman, remarks that the baby is 21 weeks old, but says she “never” looks at the bodies of the fetuses.

80% ally?

December 4, 2007

My old friend Russell Moore, who is now the dean of the school of theology at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, gave some salient commentary on the issue of abortion as it relates to presidential candidates. Check it out here.

If we join Pat Robertson and endorse the pro-abortion Guiliani (whom Moore calls an “80% ally”), asserting that our greatest foe is the Islamic jihadists and that national security is the key issue, then we are really saying that we want to preserve a nation under the curse of God for its bloodlust against our little image bearers in the womb without a voice. No. End the intrauterine holocaust so that there is something to preserve worth preserving.

Thank you, Dr. Moore.

Are babies eco friendly?

December 2, 2007

Here’s the headline for an article from about a week ago:

Meet the women who won’t have babies — because they’re not eco friendly

One of these women actually had an abortion and was later sterilized in order to minimize her carbon footprint. This seems perfectly logical to me, given their presuppositions. The modern environmental movement is barren: lots of flora and fauna but no place for man on planet earth. We should feel guilty just for being alive and not having roots. And it’s true — babies aren’t eco friendly. All that methane being emitted from tiny abdominal tracts.

A biblical worldview must answer this nonsense and speak compassionately and truthfully to these deluded women.

Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants
You have ordained strength,
Because of Your enemies,
That You may silence the enemy and the avenger.
When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
The moon and the stars, which You have ordained,
What is man that You are mindful of him,
And the son of man that You visit him?
For You have made him a little lower than the angels, And You have crowned him with glory and honor. Psalm 8:2-5

When you eat the labor of your hands,
You shall be happy, and it shall be well with you.
Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine
In the very heart of your house,
Your children like olive plants
All around your table. Psalm 128:2-3

Now that sounds eco friendly: all those little olive plants pumping nourishing oxygen into the atmosphere. God’s plan for man as viceregent, steward, favored son, and heir of the world in Christ is beautiful — so much more beautiful than a world without babies.

By the way, to imagine a world without babies, check out the novel by P.D. James, The Children of Men. The movie was based on it. Profound stuff. It’s a hopeless world without the precious gift of our little ones, our covenant riches.

Would God be Just to Destroy Us?

November 4, 2007

A mother-to-be gets devastating news…  One of her twin boys is going to die.  I cannot imagine the horror this poor woman felt.  When that boy dies, she is told by the doctors, he could take his twin brother with him…

“Mrs Jones decided to let doctors operate to terminate Gabriel’s life.

Firstly they tried to sever his umbilical cord to cut off his blood supply, but the cord was too strong.

They then cut Mrs Jones’s placenta in half so that when Gabriel died, it would not affect his twin brother.

But after the operation which was meant to end his life, tiny Gabriel had other ideas.

Although he weighed less than a pound, he put up such a fight for survival that doctors called him Rocky.

Astonishingly, he managed to carry on living in his mother’s womb for another five weeks – until the babies were delivered by caesarean section.”

A couple of things here…  They “decided to let doctors operate to terminate Gabriel’s life?”  How many operations are geared to terminate a life?  At least they don’t deceive themselves that they are trying to save a life.  The honesty is breathtaking.

The second thing here… Notice the way they describe Gabriel.  He has a life; He had his own ideas; he fought; he had a name before he was born and he carried on in proper British fashion.  This is an amazing bit of unviable tissue.

Look at the pressure the doctors put on this poor woman:

They said it would be impossible to keep him alive afterwards as he was so poorly.

It would be kinder to let him die in the womb with his brother by his side than to die alone after being born.

“That made my mind up for me. I wanted the best thing for him.”

The best thing for him is starvation… They are calling iniquity righteousness.  Go read the Minor Prophets and see how God responds to this particular sin in a society.  (Amos 2 and 5; Habakkuk 2)

Here is the real tragedy:  in the USA we kill a million babies a year who are healthier than Gabriel in the name of empowering women.  Our tax dollars support it and the Church is, by and large, castrated in its response.

We have bigger fish to fry, keeping Hillary Clinton out of office is taking up all our free time.  May He grant us repentance and may He remember mercy in judgement.

We need to pray that prayer, for God cannot be pleased with America:

Ps 94:20-21

20 Shall the throne of iniquity, which devises evil by law,
Have fellowship with You?
21 They gather together against the life of the righteous,
And condemn innocent blood.

Attention All Planet Hating Breeders…

July 30, 2007

The AGW crowd is a mixed bag.  There are some folks don’t know much for sure,  but feel that it is better safe than sorry, so they buy carbon offsets.  Others are absolutely sure that my minivan is a huge part of the problem and they have no qualms about asking me to give it up, my family of 6 be damned.   Then there is this group:  The Voluntary Human Extinction Movement.  Here is a taste…

“Each time another one of us decides to not add another one of us to the burgeoning billions already squatting on this ravaged planet, another ray of hope shines through the gloom.
When every human chooses to stop breeding, Earth’s biosphere will be allowed to return to its former glory, and all remaining creatures will be free to live, die, evolve (if they believe in evolution), and will perhaps pass away, as so many of Nature’s “experiments” have done throughout the eons. “

Notice the bold section if you will… There was a golden age for the earth… it was B.H., Before Humans.  In Earth B.H. everything was glorious!  Dying and evolving were joys to behold (though no one was there to behold them) and “experiments” passed away with nary a torch song.  Ah, the good old days.

Someone asked me awhile back, “Why do Conservative Christians have such heartburn over manmade Global Warming?”  I guess it is because just under the surface of every guy who wants to save flipper I sense this bubbling hatred of human life.  (As an aside: I’d like to know if anyone has stats on a correlation between a firm belief in AGW and a firm belief in a right to abortion?)

Here is one reason Christians have such a hard time with AGW:

Isaiah 45:18

For thus says the LORD,
      Who created the heavens,
      Who is God,
Who formed the earth and made it,
      Who has established it,
Who did not create it in vain,
Who formed it to be inhabited:

“ I am the LORD, and there is no other.

The earth was not formed for flipper, the bald eagle or the towering redwood tree.  It was formed by God and for man!  Haters.

Abortion: Rated PG (just the word though)

July 6, 2007

This blog has been rated PG? (UPDATE: David M. writes to tell us that we are now Rated R.  Which makes this even more odd.)OK… this is a pretty static rating system, using a bank of words and nothing approaching an intelligent filtering system. But, what caught my eye was the reason for the rating. We are rated PG because we use the word “ABORTION.”

What strikes me as ironic is that the word ‘abortion’ leads to the warning “Some material may not be suitable for children,” while the procedure itself is available to a 12 year old possessing a note from the school nurse.

In the Minor Prophets there is this idea that when God judges a people moral confusion ensues. Injustice is called justice; righteousness is called wicked and the helpless are persecuted. The restoration of a people back into favor with God is pictured as a restoration of justice in the land. Consider Micah (Word of God in red)…

Micah 5:6,7

6Seek the LORD and live,
lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph,
and it devour, with none to quench it for Bethel,
7O you who turn justice to wormwood
and cast down righteousness to the earth!

Followed by

Micah 5:14-15

14Seek good, and not evil,
that you may live;
and so the LORD, the God of hosts, will be with you,
as you have said.
15Hate evil, and love good,
and establish justice in the gate;
it may be that the LORD, the God of hosts,
will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.

Then…

Micah says that he, Micah, is

3:8 …”filled with power,
with the Spirit of the LORD,
and with justice and might,
to declare to Jacob his transgression
and to Israel his sin.”

Micah then goes on to describe the leaders of the people:

3:9Hear this, you heads of the house of Jacob
and rulers of the house of Israel,
who detest justice
and make crooked all that is straight,
10who build Zion with blood
and Jerusalem with iniquity.
11Its heads give judgment for a bribe;
its priests teach for a price;
its prophets practice divination for money;
yet they lean on the LORD and say,
“Is not the LORD in the midst of us?
No disaster shall come upon us.”
12Therefore because of you
Zion shall be plowed as a field;
Jerusalem shall become a heap of ruins,
and the mountain of the house a wooded height.

Some might argue that the church and governments in the west are driven, to a significant degree, by the entertainment culture (hence the PG rating here). The culture says it is wrong to talk about abortion, except in the most glowing fashion, but the chopping up of little babies is the height of goodness and truth.

When such moral confusion reigns, do we NOT detest justice and make crooked all that is straight? Why should God NOT plow us like a field?

Now, it may be true that we are outraged by this moral bankrupcy,  but let me say that it is far more common to hate injustice only when it is perpetrated against us.  When injustice is in our favor we tend to like it… a lot.

Who shall deliver us from this body of death?  Jesus Christ, the crucified and risen Savior, is the only hope for a crooked people to be made straight.

John 6:38-40 38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. 39 This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. 40 And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”

OK, I just threw that last part in to scare you…

This is a wonderful bit of bite from Scott Ott, scribe of Scrapple Face:

Hillary: Court Ruling Stabs Women in the Back of the Head

by Scott Ott

(2007-04-19) — Yesterday’s Supreme Court ruling in Gonzales v. Carhart upholding the right of Congress and state legislatures to regulate abortion and, in particular, to ban partial-birth abortion, is “a blade to the back of the head of every woman in America,” according to Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY.

“I know I speak for my sisters across the nation,” said Sen. Clinton, “when I say that I feel like someone grabbed me by the ankles, and jammed a pair of scissors into the base of my skull and then just sucked my brains out. This is devastating to our freedoms and our sense who we are as the largest minority group in America.”

Mrs. Clinton derided the justices who comprised the majority in the 5-4 ruling as “a gang of callous right-wingers who slaughtered the civil rights of women just as we are about to experience a new birth of freedom with the election of the first female president.”

“All that potential, all that hope is now tossed down the garbage chute,” she said, “and all because five selfish judges decided that their so-called ‘right to choose’ supersedes the life of the women’s movement. It’s despicable.”

A Momentous Moment

April 18, 2007

Around one million babies are murdered in our nation every year. Abortion is a holocaust unprecedented in the history of human civilization, and I truly believe that is no overstatement. Our nation will not thumb its collective nose at the law of Almighty God for much longer, and in fact I believe we are seeing His opposition to us. Judgment is not coming; it’s here.

But perhaps today’s news is a glimmer of hope. Not repentance, but a movement in the right direction. Toward honoring God’s law by sparing the most vulnerable of God’s image bearers among us. Read here how the Supreme Court banned the evil practice of partial birth abortion. The more the abortion defenders scream, the more little ones are spared.

Praise the Lord and keep praying, beloved.
